Who is eligible for participation?

Anyone between the ages of 21-99, living and employed in London, UK and identifying as ethnically Pakistani.

How long will the interviews last and where will they be conducted?

Interviews will last anywhere between 30 to 90 minutes and can be conducted either online or in-person. I will be able to accomodate for any needs and desires.

What is the research about?

The research will investigate how extrinsically mandated pro-social contributions (i.e., redistributive taxation) affect intrinsic altruistic preferences and motivations for the London Pakistani community.

This is a semi-structured interview-based research that is being conducted within London’s Pakistani community. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted to collect data for analyzing 1) participants’ attitudes towards redistributive taxation and the British social security system, 2) participants’ altruistic (i.e., other-regarding) preferences and motivations, and 3) participants’ perceptions of how taxation influences altruistic preferences and motivations. The overall intention is to conduct an in-depth investigation into the short- and long-term effects of welfare state governance on social cooperation and prosperity.
